Sengakuji is a station on the Toei Asakusa Line which is located on the eastern side of the Takanawa neighbourhood in Minato ward. It’s also the name of a famous nearby temple. Why is it famous you ask? It’s the final resting place of the 47 Ronin – the tale of which is about to Hollywoodized with a cast featuring Keanu Reeves. No doubt Keanu fans will soon be making pilgrimages here in much the same way as people go to the Park Hyatt bar in Shinjuku after watching Lost in Translation.
At the moment, entrance to the temple is still free so if you have a few days in Tokyo it’s worth adding to your cheapo itinerary.
