Our tests
Average results taken from five tests conducted in September 2024:
Network provider
One unusual thing about GigSky is that its website does not clearly state who its network partners are in Japan. During our eSIM testing, though, we automatically connected to NTT Docomo networks. As one of Japan’s most prolific networks, you should receive reliable connectivity in most parts of the country on Docomo.
User reviews
Online user reviews for GigSky’s products are generally positive. Most people mention the user-friendliness of their app and installation, speed, and overall connectivity. Less enthusiastic reviews typically relate to affordability and the lack of voice and text options.
Alternatives to GigSky
GigSky’s high speeds and reliable connectivity make them a strong contender, but it’s always good to compare your options. Perhaps you’d like to see how they compare to providers offering voice + text plans or longer trip options.
To help you make an informed decision, we’ve put together a comprehensive Japan eSIM guide that provides a more detailed comparison of GigSky with other eSIM providers in Japan, including up-to-date pricing and features.
