A particularly nice spot for a stroll, the gardens surrounding the Imperial Palace in Tokyo were originally chosen to host the Walking Races for Tokyo 2020, but the venue was moved to Sapporo after extreme heat concerns.
On regular days the parks has different sections, with the East Gardens being the most popular to visit. Also in the area is the Kokyo Gaien National gardens and Kitanomaru Park which is particularly well known for the cherry blossom which brightens the moat each Spring. Take a stroll along the Chidorigafuchi walking path to admire the blossoms or rent a paddle-boat from April – November. The park is also home to the Nippon Budokan and the National Museum of Modern Art.
