Affectionately known as Sweets Alley, Kashiya Yokocho is most famous for — unsurprisingly — sweets.

  • Kashiya-Yokocho (Candy Alley) in the morning.
  • Try retro Japanese candy.

This charming street is packed with a variety of shops including a 110-year-old candy store, a contemporary matcha stand, and even a Chiikawa character shop. If you’re looking to try nostalgic Showa-era treats like dagashi, this is the place to go. You’ll also find a LOT of sweet potato-flavored snacks here.

Walking down Kashiya Yokocho definitely feels like stepping back in time.
