Matsuya is an iconic department store that is intertwined with Asakusa Station. The above ground Tobu Line station is within the building while the below ground Tokyo Metro Ginza Line is in the basement. The Toei Oedo Line station is located just to the south.
Matsuya is a distinguished brand among department stores, with a very fancy main store located in Ginza. The Asakusa branch is a bit more downmarket. Many of the floors have been given over to the Tobu operated EKIMISE, which houses a variety of discount clothing and other stores.
The basement is a good spot to pick up picnic supplies if you are planning to take the river ferry to Hamarikyu Gardens.
