The Tokyo Museum of Contemporary Art holds the Tokyo city government’s collection of mainly 20th century modern art.
Famous works as part of the permanent collection include ‘Marilyn Monroe’ by Andy Warhol (1967), ‘Girl with Hair Ribbon’ by Roy Lichtenstein (1965) and sculptures/installations by acclaimed Japanese artist Tokujin Yoshioka.
The building was opened in 1995 and underwent major rnovations between 2017 and 2019.
