A Buddhist temple in Kawagoe, this site is one of the stops on the Seven Lucky Gods Pilgrimage.

Founded during the Muromachi period, the historic Jodo sect temple was originally a place of peace for the local people. In 1602, it became one of the Jōdo sect’s 18 Danrin temples in the Kanto region. This means it became an official educational institution for Buddhist monks.

At this temple, you’ll find a statue of Obinzuru-sama, a Buddha believed to cure illnesses when touched. Fukurokuju-jin, one of the Seven Lucky Gods of Kawagoe, is also enshrined here.
