If you’re looking for top-tier Japanese skincare products and cosmetics, SHISEIDO THE STORE is the place to go. The global flagship store in Ginza — where the Shiseido brand started over 150 years ago — offers a beauty experience both inside and out.
SHISEIDO THE STORE is open every day, from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. and welcomes customers from all over the world. There are English-speaking staff on hand to give you personalized advice and answer any questions you might have.
You can find a selection of SHISEIDO’s Japanese beauty products at drug stores and department stores around the country, but what makes SHISEIDO THE STORE special is that almost all of their cosmetics are available under one roof. These include the full SHISEIDO and Clé de Peau Beauté ranges.
The shelves are stocked with everything from the iconic red ULTIMUNE skincare range to make-up, face masks, fragrances, supplements for inner beauty, and men’s grooming supplies. Did you know that many of SHISEIDO’s skincare products are actually unisex?
The exclusive THE GINZA line of cosmetics (which happens to be unisex) is also available here — there are only a few other places in Tokyo where you can find them. The perfumes on offer at SHISEIDO THE STORE include brands like Issey Miyake and Serge Lutens.
Store layout
There are four floors to SHISEIDO THE STORE, with the first two — Beauty Square 1 and 2 — dedicated to skincare and other cosmetic products, linked by a grand wooden staircase. The store was fully renovated in 2018, and is just about as modern as you can get. It’s worth a look for the architecture and design alone.
In between browsing and trying out the various essences, serums, lotions, and potions, you can check your skin’s hydration levels, complexion, and wrinkles. These checks are free, and take just a few minutes.
The upper two floors house a beauty salon, photo studio, and space for personal beauty lessons (Japanese-language, interpreter necessary). These areas require advance reservations and, in some cases, member sign-up (in Japanese).
Engraving service
SHISEIDO THE STORE in Ginza offers a special service to customers — and it’s 100% free. You can get your purchase engraved with letters or a design, for example your name, the date of your Ginza trip, or a Japanese motif.
The range of products that can be engraved is limited, but includes ULTIMUNE and SHISEIDO lipstick. It makes for the perfect gift, anniversary present, or simply a memento to commemorate your Japan holiday.
Souvenirs and bags
The store also stocks a range of small souvenirs like postcards (less than ¥100) and totes, which make a nice way to round off your shopping. Additionally, gift-wrap bags are available.
Special offer: Exclusive summer gifts
From July 1 to August 31 2025, customers will receive an original SHISEIDO THE STORE pouch with purchases over ¥15,000, and an original SHISEIDO THE STORE “Wa” knit bag with purchases over ¥30,000.
Note: Prices exclude tax. The offer is only available while stocks last.
About SHISEIDO
SHISEIDO originally started as a private Western-style pharmacy — the first in all of Japan — in 1872. That was in the Ginza area, where the company still stands today. In 1916, they opened their cosmetics business. The symbolic logo has always been the camellia flower — hanatsubaki in Japanese.
The name “Shiseido” means “How wonderful is the virtue of the earth, from which all things are born!” and is derived from the Chinese Confucian classic text Yi Jing — called Book of Changes in English.
SHISEIDO is all about offering beauty solutions for the every day and the special day; their mission speaks for itself in “beauty innovations for a better world”.
