Although Kawagoe is mostly known for its Edo-style architecture, Taisho Roman-dori — a different street — showcases the atmosphere of the Showa era.

Down this street, you’ll find old-school coffee shops, restaurants, and local shops. The street is also decorated with koinobori (carp streamers), making it a great backdrop for photos.

How to get there

From Kawagoe Station, take the Kawagoe-01 bus to Shinmeicho Shako and get off at Renkeiji Temple. From there it is a 2-minute walk to this street. In total, it takes around 7 minutes and costs ¥210.
