Teppen Shibuya is a somewhat bonkers izakaya in the backstreets of Shibuya, with a special secret weapon—a birthday performance that rivals a J-pop stadium gig.
The food is good—a mix of yakitori and healthy vegetable options, like a really yummy really daikon katsu or their 15 veg salad. Relatively cheapo compatible, probably going to get away with around 3,000 yen per head.
But the most important thing to understand is that Teppen is like dining in the middle of a music festival main stage. The staff are constantly shouting, they have loads of little tricks, and if you want the most bizarre (family safe) dining experience in Shibuya, just tell them it’s your birthday when you book.
