As if Tokyo hadn’t been terrorized enough by the radiation-powered monster that is Godzilla, they’ve gone and installed a giant looming head in the heart of Shinjuku.
Poking out from behind the Toho Cinema complex of Kabukichō, the 12m (40 ft) tall head very occasionally roars, and is actually a really handy meeting place. A tribute to the much loved creation of Toho themselves, Godzilla is an official tourism ambassador and special resident of Shinjuku. Even the street leading up to his disembodied head has been named after him. As a general destroyer of landmarks including Rainbow Bridge, Tokyo Tower and the National Diet Building, hopes are he might calm down now he has a landmark of his own.
