Established in 1882, Waseda has become one of Japan’s largest, and most prestigious private universities.
Besides its many academic accolades, the university is well known for its baseball and rugby teams, which both regularly win championships in each sport. In both codes, Waseda has a strong rivalry with Keio University.
The heart of the university is Ōkuma Auditorium in which major events such as graduation ceremonies take place.
