Popular Australian breakfast spot with a reputation for great scrambled eggs and delicious ricotta pancakes. Good any time of day, really.
What’s bills?

Born in Sydney and beloved worldwide, bills brings the relaxed, sun-soaked spirit of Australian café culture to Japan. Plus, they do all-day breakfast — need we say more?
What’s on the menu?
For autumn/winter 2024, bills rolled out new vegetarian, vegan, and gluten-free dishes across their locations. We tried them, and they were legit. Now, with a new seasonal menu for spring/summer 2025, they’re keeping the offerings just as diverse and flavorful.
One standout for us was the chia seed pudding with diced pineapple, a creamy, tropical opener that also hppens to be loaded with fibre. Ideal for early risers and dessert-for-breakfast vibes.

Among the savory options, the buckwheat pancake with gravlax felt hearty without being heavy. Made with spring onions and topped with house-cured salmon, cucumber ribbons, dill, and lemon butter, it hit all the right notes for us: tangy, fresh, and herbaceous.

Then there’s the green tea noodle dish, which layers chilled noodles with sesame avocado, pickles, edamame, and a jammy egg, all brought together with a gentle seaweed, mushroom and miso dashi — the bounties of the sea and the soil in one bowl. If you’re after something that bridges the two coastlines and can be made vegan, this is a solid pick.

And to wash it all down? We tried the strawberry and goji berry coconut milk smoothie and found it well-balanced, not cloyingly sweet. Meanwhile, the homemade limoncello spritz (alcoholic) delivered a welcome burst of citrus. Also look out for bills’ special sake cocktails, made in partnership with a local sake brewery.
How’s the decor and atmosphere?
The restaurant has outdoor seating with good views, and is located within the Tokyu Plaza Building, on the seventh floor. The space is open and unfussy: high ceilings, plenty of natural light, and a mix of chairs and sofa seating, and large granite tables that work great for larger groups, too.
On a Wednesday morning, the place was nicely full without feeling crowded — a steady buzz, with the hum of conversation and clinking cutlery. Don’t be surprised if you end up chatting with your neighbor; the vibe is convivial.
