Housed in a traditional Japanese-style building, as is common for most shops in Kawagoe, this restaurant serves udon, tempura, and omelette-style skewers.
What’s Ebisu-an?

As mentioned, this restaurant specializes in three main things — udon, tempura, and tamago (egg) skewers. For those who want to slurp on some fresh noodles, you’ll need to go into the main restaurant area. It is in here that you can order different sets of udon, which include tempura and other delicious small dishes. Prices range from ¥1,760 to ¥2,420.
If you’re on the go, you can instead pick up one of the egg skewers. These dashi maki tamago come in a bunch of unique flavors, with the top three most popular being the: Seaweed Mentaiko Cream Cheese, Plum Shiso Natto, and Teriyaki Chicken Mayo.
We tried the Seaweed Mentaiko Cream Cheese and it was bursting with a combination of interesting flavors. Prices range from ¥280 to ¥350. You can enjoy your egg on a stick in the outdoor covered seating area.
Luckily, you can also get a smaller version of the udon (and even rice) as a takeout option. The to-go udon is Mentai Cheese Udon and costs ¥650.
Note: only cash payment is accepted.

Do you need reservations for Ebisu-an?
It is possible to make a reservation for the indoor seating area (if you’re wanting to order noodles). However, the only way to do this is by calling them. We would simply recommend just going before the lunchtime rush.
