Sometaro is a renowned and remarkably cheap restaurant in Asakusa that specializes in both okonomiyaki and monjayaki—the less well known Tokyo cousin to okonomiyaki (which is from West Japan).
Diners are seated in front of grills and you are given the ingredients to cook your own meal.
The restaurant is in a very old building. As a result, there is no air-conditioning. A sign on the door during the summer months warns that it is “very, very hot”.
Sometaro is right next door to Asakusa Beer Kobo.
