Teahouse Sekison is a chic café connected to the shrine atop Mount Ōyama.

What’s Teahouse Sekison?

Teahouse Sekison has a thoughtful concept: to bring the shrine to you, in an accessible, elegant format. The interiors feel contemporary, yet rely on time-honored techniques such as persimmon tannin-stained wood and traditional carpentry.

The menu’s star item is the Masu Tiramisu, which is a matcha-based cheesecake-like dessert served in a wooden box. Matcha tiramisu is all the rage right now, but this is the best we’ve had so far.

There is also gluten-free chiffon cake, as well as various beverages, including hand-whisked matcha, other tea drinks, and also coffee that’s brewed using the area’s famous sacred spring water.

Note: this is more a spot for snacking, relaxing and taking in the view, rather than eating a full meal.
