Heading on a cruise? Got a business conference to attend? Or do you just want to stay in a city with more space than Tokyo? Read on for our tips and tricks on what to do once you land at Yokohama's closest airport, Haneda. Yokohama is conveniently close to Haneda, and most forms of transport will get you there in under 30 minutes. The city is just south of the airport and around 20 km (12.5 miles) away. Pro tip: A quick, easy, and convenient way to get from Haneda Airport to Yokohama -- and directly to your accommodation -- is to book a taxi transfer online before you arrive. Transport options: Getting from Haneda Airport to Yokohama Trains, buses, and taxis can take you from Haneda to Yokohama, but some will get you closer to your desired drop-off point than others. Taxis, of course, can take you directly from the airport to the door of your accommodation. Airport buses, meanwhile, run direct to Yokohama City Air Terminal (YCAT) next to Yokohama Station, as well as bayside destinations like Ōsanbashi Pier (the international cruise pier), Pacifico Yokohama (the convention center), and major hotels. Trains run direct to Yokohama Station, from where you can transfer to other lines, including the Minato-Mirai subway line. Trains: The cheapest option If you want to keep it cheap, then jump onto a train. There are two options at Haneda Airport -- the Keikyū Line and the Tokyo Monorail -- but it's easier to just forget the monorail as it only heads towards Tokyo (Hamamatsuchō Station). If you get on it by accident, change at Tenkubashi for the Keikyū Line to get back on track. Keikyū Line How much does it cost? How long does it take? 23–30 minutes When is the first/last train? 5:36 (weekend), 5:42 (weekday)/midnight -- all times include changes at Keikyū-Kamata Station. While not the most convenient option if you have a lot of luggage, the train is a fast and reliable way to get into Yokohama. The Keikyū Line trains go in one of two directions: towards Shinagawa in Tokyo or towards Yokohama. You'll want the latter. Once you've picked up your luggage, head towards the marked signs at the train station. Keikyū Line trains are frequent, every 10 minutes, and cost only for a 30-minute direct journey to Yokohama Station. To make your journey even faster, you can change at Keikyū Kamata Station and hop onto the Limited Express Kanazawabunko. The fare is still the same and it takes even less time at around 23 minutes. From Yokohama Station, you can change to local lines, such as the Yokohama Municipal Subway towards the port. Buses: Direct and easy Buses to Yokohama from Haneda Airport stop at Yokohama City Air Terminal (YCAT) -- near Yokohama station -- Shin-Yokohama Station, and Minato-Mirai, so are a perfect option if you want to get closer to your hotel without transferring. Currently, no online tickets are available. Purchase your tickets at the bus counter on the second floor of Haneda Airport Terminal 3. Buses to Yokohama Station How much does it cost? How long does it take? 30 minutes When is the first/last bus from Terminal 3? 8:10/21:05 When is the first/last bus from Terminal 2? 6:20/23:30 If you want to keep things simple and just head to Yokohama Station, your best bet is getting the bus from Stop 7 (Terminal 3) towards YCAT. They come a little less frequently than the option below, but they also stop less and run for longer. You can reach Yokohama in 30 minutes for . Buses to Minato Mirai and cruise terminal How much does it cost? How long does it take? 24–43 minutes When is the first/last bus? 8:40/19:10. The buses to Yamashita Park, Minato Mirai, Red Brick Warehouse, and the Osanbashi Passenger Terminal come quite frequently -- around twice an hour -- and depart from Bus Stop 8. This route also stops at some hotels, like . This bus is more expensive than to Yokohama Station at . It takes around 24 minutes to Yamashita Park and approx. 43 minutes to the Red Brick Warehouse. Taxis: The most comfortable option Forget timetables and tickets, and choose a taxi instead. Perfect for the traveler who doesn't need the fuss or hassle of public transport. Pre-booked taxis How much does it cost? From How long does it take? 25–30 minutes For ease of mind, book online and be welcomed to Japan by a smiling driver in the arrivals hall. Prices vary but start at around to Yokohama Station for a four-person car. There are no hidden fees, such as tolls or parking charges, and there is a wide range of private transfers to choose from that also include larger vehicles for larger families. This is a great option if your flight is delayed or arrives when public transport is no longer running. Regular Haneda taxis How much does it cost? est. How long does it take? 23–30 minutes If you like to live life on the edge -- or aren't much of a planner -- then you may just want to rock up to the taxi rank on the first floor and hop in a car. While areas in Tokyo have flat-rate taxi fares, the same can't be said if your destination is Yokohama. Prices vary but you'll pay a similar price to a pre-booked taxi, around . The downside to a regular taxi is that you don't know what kind of service you'll get and there may be a line at the rank. Late-night options If you find yourself arriving at Haneda late at night or in the early hours of the morning, there aren't many transport options to Yokohama. The last train on the Keikyū Line is at midnight -- with a change at Keikyū-Kamata Station -- and it doesn't start up again till around 5:30 a.m. The bus options are even worse (till 11:30 p.m.), and you'll have to travel to Terminal 2 to catch it. The saving grace of a late arrival is the taxis, which run all night. But be warned, it is better to pre-book, so you don't get caught in a long and winding queue at the taxi stand.
