300Bar has been synonymous with Ginza drinking establishments since the first store opened in 1992. Known as the first standing bar in Japan and for serving the "world's most delicious mojito", its three stores continue to challenge Ginza’s luxury bar culture with authentic cocktails at affordable prices. What to expect at Ginza 300Bar With three locations across Ginza, 300Bar offers a social standing-bar experience and an affordable night out. True to its name, most food and drinks cost (plus tax). Instead of a cover charge, the bar uses a prepaid ticket system that has been part of the experience since it first opened in 1992. Men purchase a minimum of three drink tickets and women purchase a minimum of two, all menu items cost either one or two tickets. If you purchase 10 tickets at once, you receive an extra ticket as a bonus. If you have any left over at the end of the evening, you can use them on your next visit. All bars have come to be known as a perfect spot for pre-dinner aperitifs or a post-dinner nightcap. With more than 150 cocktails, beers, and food items on the menu, there’s plenty to choose from. Alongside the original mojito, you can try a variety of mocktails, flavored lemonades, margaritas, gin and tonics, and a great selection of whisky -- all for one ticket. Each bar has a rotating roster of in-house DJs, and on any given night you can expect to hear Showa-era grooves, city pop, J-pop, or ’80s and ’90s classics. The world's most delicious mojito 300Bar’s Garden Mojito is its signature specialty. Using organic mint, Cuban sugar cane, and Havana Club 3-year rum, the drink has earned official backing from the Cuban Embassy in Tokyo as the "world's most delicious mojito". Located in Aomori Prefecture in the northern part of Japan’s main island, Tohoku Bokujo (Ranch) is where 300Bar plants and harvests their own herbs. This includes the organic mint used in their famous mojitos, along with basil, rosemary, thyme, and other herbs that feature in many of their dishes. The recipe itself was developed by a 300Bar bartender who immersed himself in Cuban history and organic farming before studying at the Cuban Embassy and traveling to Cuba. There, he visited the legendary La Bodeguita del Medio, made famous by Ernest Hemingway’s quote: “My mojito in La Bodeguita, my daiquiri in El Floridita.” That commitment to authenticity has made the Garden Mojito one of Tokyo’s most famous cocktails. Despite its premium ingredients, it remains remarkably affordable at the price of two tickets. Once only available during the warmer months, it is now served year-round. Food at Ginza 300Bar If you’re looking for something to enjoy with your mojito, staff recommend ordering one of 300Bar’s original Cubano sandwiches. While a traditional Cubano features ham, mayonnaise, pickles, and tomatoes, 300Bar adds cooked pork and a twist of lime. The pickles are homemade, reflecting the bar’s commitment to serving fresh, high-quality food. If the Cubano isn’t your cup of tea, you can also choose from mouth-watering pizzas, hamburger steaks, jerk chicken, or the signature brochette. What’s new at Ginza 300Bar? When we caught up with the 300Bar team in July 2026, they let us know that all three Ginza locations are keeping things interesting with a range of special menus and events. Seasonal celebrations, including their spring cherry blossom festival and summer Star Festival, invite visitors to experience Japanese traditions while enjoying limited-time menu items. Other events, such as an Okinawa celebration, spotlight regional Japanese drinks, music, cuisine, and culture. International events have also become a popular addition, including St. Patrick’s Day parties, Day of the Dead celebrations, and Hemingway’s Birthday. Alongside the bars’ rotating roster of DJs, Ginza 300Bar Next, the largest of the three locations, is also starting to plan live music events. More recently, they’ve added Gojou Junmai Ginjou, a premium sake from Aomori Prefecture, to the menu. With its smooth texture and rich body, the sake is typically only available at stores near the brewery, making 300Bar the only bar outside Aomori Prefecture where you can enjoy it. Locations 300Bar has three locations in the Ginza area, all within walking distance. Ginza 300Bar Next Next is the most recent addition to 300Bar's roster. With space for approximately 120 people, it's by far the most spacious venue but still designed with an emphasis on easy conversation. Featuring a large projector screen and DJ booth, it's known for its lively parties and events and rotating roster of DJs. Ginza 300Bar 8-chōme Accommodating roughly 60 people, 8-chōme is known for its more intimate size, making it easy to socialize and get to know the regulars and other visitors. Ginza 300Bar 5-chōme The original -- Ginza 300Bar 5-chōme has a capacity of around 80 people and is known as Japan's first standing bar. All locations open at 4:30 p.m., and happy hour runs from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. every day. The staff are friendly, and their menus are available in English. All within walking distance, each bar is easy to reach via both the Tokyo Metro and JR East lines. While we do our best to ensure it's correct, information is subject to change.
