But if green is more your thing, check out Earth Day this weekend at Yoyogi Park, or fill up on Spanish food in Hibiya Park. Never miss a freebie! Sign up for our events newsletter. Paella and Tapas Festival Timed to approximately coincide with the famous Feria de Abril held every April in Seville, Spain, the Paella and Tapas Festival is a hugely popular food festival. Visitors can enjoy popular Spanish dishes, such as paella, tapas, BBQ and drinks such as Spanish wine, beer and sangria. In addition, there will be music and cultural performances throughout the 3 days of the festival. Kabukicho Blue Festival In preparation for the opening of the new Tokyu Kabukicho Tower, Kabukicho will be putting on a party with free live performances, a mikoshi (portable shrine) procession, and outdoor movie festival. Earth Day Tokyo All kinds of environment NPOs and charities you probably didn't know existed in Tokyo will be recruiting and spreading their word at Earth Day Tokyo. The main festival days will happen on the weekends April 15 to 16 at Yoyogi Park Events Square and April 22 to 23 at Miyashita Park. Waseda Regatta The Waseda Regatta is a long-running tradition that is more than a century old. It sees Waseda University and Keio University face off in a rowing competition on the Sumida River. The main race, Waseda vs. Keio, will start at 2:40 p.m. COMPLEXSTORE at Womb An explosion of techno will make its way to the club Womb for a night of incredible acts. On the cards is DJ Francesco Del Garda, an acclaimed Italian DJ who creates a sound filled with funk, techno, and house. Nemophila at Hitachi Seaside Park This weekend will be one of the best times to see the brilliant blue flower at Hitachi Seaside Park. The nemophila, also known as baby blue eyes or California blue bells, will reach their peak around April 15. Takao Wakaba Spring Festival A celebration of the young leaves, this spring event incorporates a series of performances, concerts and traditional events on and around Mount Takao. The entertainment mainly takes place on weekends, so while it will be busier, there won't be much happening during the week. On April 16, a parade will set off from Yakuoin Temple at 11 a.m. Kameido Tenjin Wisteria Festival With over 100 plants, Kameido Tenjin Shrine remains the best place in Tokyo to see wisteria -- fuji in Japanese -- in bloom. During the annual Kameido Tenjin Wisteria Festival, the wisteria is illuminated after dusk. There are also usually food stalls and events, like tea ceremonies, taiko drumming, and ikebana displays. Chichibu Shibazakura Festival Shibazakura (moss phlox) means something like "lawn-cherry" and these flowers, which bloom in multiple shades of pink, are one of Japan's many, many spring blooms. There are 10 varieties of shibazakura represented among the roughly 400,000 plants that cover four acres at Hitsujiyama Park in Chichibu.
