ToCo: ‘Monogatari’ Zine Exhibition An exhibition featuring 14 artists who've worked collaboratively on their second anthology zine Monogatari with the theme of telling stories of inanimate objects in Tokyo. CEATEC 2018 Combined Exhibition of Advanced Technologies—or CEATEC—is a giant electronics show. An event perfect for those interested in staying ahead of the curve in the world of consumer technology. Coping with Anxiety Mental health non-profit TELL presents a series of workshops. The workshops aim to help parents with various challenges, such as Coping with Anxiety Hope Quiz Night at Hobgoblin A night for know-it-alls with a cause! Join the monthly charity pub quiz at Hobgoblin with all entry proceeds going to Hope International Development Agency. Japan Robot Week 2018 Witness the latest and greatest in robotic technology during Japan Robot Week, an exhibition focusing on service robots (i.e. support in the medical, agricultural fields). Tokyo Decadance Halloween 2018 One of the biggest Halloween events of the year, Tokyo Decadence Halloween has it all: dancers, demons, stilt walkers, cyber rope acts and DJs, including the 83-year-old world-record holder DJ Sumiroc. Nihonbashi Ebisu-ko Bettara Market For a little pre-weekend fun, Takarada Ebisu Shrine will be holding its annual fair where you can graze from 500 food and drink stalls. Try local specialty bettara-zuke, sweet and salty daikon radish pickles—a must-try for any attendee. Fujisawa Enoshima Fireworks Festival 2018 Enoshima is hosting its yearly beachfront fireworks display. While summer is usually fireworks season in Japan, with the weather so mild during the fall, it’s the perfect time of year for such an outing. Tokyo Grand Tea Ceremony 2018 This is your chance to take part in a bona-fide Japanese cultural experience. This annual event welcomes both Japanese and foreigners to enjoy a traditional tea ceremony. Don’t speak the language? English ceremonies are held, but get there early to reserve a spot. Indonesia Japan Friendship Festival A typical Yoyogi Park cultural festival, so you know what that means: food stalls, music and dance performances, goods and more—all with an Indonesian twist. Head to the event square for all the action. Shitamachi Matsuri Shitamachi is the name for Tokyo’s traditional “downtown” area—hence why this festival will take place in the traditional Nezu and Sendagi neighborhoods of Tokyo. Expect a little bit of everything, including bands and orchestras, dance, cheerleading, food and craft stalls, a kids area and a flea market to boot. Kawagoe Festival The liveliest event of the year in Koedo-Kawagoe, and definitely the liveliest event in Tokyo this weekend. There will be festival floats carrying exquisitely crafted dolls as well as a face-off between floats while being cheered on by spectators. Tokyo Vegefood Festa 2018 If you’ve attempted to eat vegetarian/vegan in Tokyo before, you know how near-impossible it is. But luckily there is the Vegefood Festival in Yoyogi Park serving an all-vegan menu, so you can chow down—worry and meat (byproduct) free! Koto Ward Citizens Festival Make your way to Kiba Park for an Edo-period inspired festival with a throw-back to the area’s logging history. Back in those days performers would balance on floating semi-milled logs. You can see that and more (tricks on top of ladders and boxes placed on the logs) this weekend. Very impressive!
