The Hokkaido Fair (also called “The Hokkai Shokudo”) is a 4-day celebration of the food of Japan’s northernmost prefecture. Well known for potatoes, dairy and meat, the region has enough speciality dishes to keep you busy for days, so make sure you arrive hungry.
In previous years, early visitors you could get a bunch of dishes that are normally ¥1,000 for ¥200 but this has not been confirmed yet for 2019. The special deal is usually limited to the first 50 orders from each of the 35 food vendors — so the early bird most definitely gets the worm!
Organizers report that nearly 600,000 people attended the festival in previous years so popular is an understatement.
To prevent the spread of COVID-19, many events have been canceled. Always check official sites before heading to an event.
