The Hokkaido Fair (also called “The Hokkai Shokudo”) is a 4-day celebration of the food of Japan’s northernmost prefecture. Well known for potatoes, dairy and meat, the region has enough speciality dishes to keep you busy for days, so make sure you arrive hungry.
Early visitors can get a bunch of dishes that are normally ¥1,000 for ¥500. The special deal is limited to the first 50 orders from each of the 35 food vendors — so the early bird most definitely gets the worm! There are also special food sets reduced to ¥1,900 throughout the day.
Organizers report that nearly 600,000 people attended the festival in pre-COVID times. To prevent the spread of COVID-19, many events have been canceled. Always check official sites before heading to an event.
