Shinjuku Eisa Festival 2024

12:00pm – 8:00pm
Free

Late July sees the annual Shinjuku Eisa Festival. Eisa is a traditional dance originating in the Okinawan islands.

What happens?

The traditional costumes, dancing, and drumming are quite different to what you’re likely to see in other festivals in Japan. The organizers are only expecting about 1 million people to turn up to watch!  Mind you, this is Shinjuku so you probably won’t notice the difference.

How to get there

The event takes place around Shinjuku Station East and West exits.

Organizers may cancel events, alter schedules, or change admission requirements without notice. Always check official sites before heading to an event.
