This is the biggest summer matsuri (festival) of the year in the trendy neighborhood of Kagurazaka.
What happens?
The first two days of the festival consist of a Hozugi Market (the seeds of the winter cherry are sold for ceremonial purposes at this time of year for Obon). The second half of the festival (Fri-Sat) is an Awa Odori festival in which participants perform the fluid and graceful dance that originated in Tokushima Prefecture. There will be yatai (outdoor festival food stalls) present for all four days.
How to get there
The festival will take place on Kagurazaka Dori — the main shopping street of this lovely Tokyo neighborhood.
Organizers may cancel events, alter schedules, or change admission requirements without notice. Always check official sites before heading to an event.
