Japan is famous for its high-quality stationery. Head to this Tokyo expo to find out why.
There are festivals like this throughout the year — including this one in winter.
What happens?
While there’s a lot to love at stores like Loft and Hands, small makers from across the length and breadth of the country produce beautiful stationery. You can buy from them directly at this expo.
You’ll want to get your hands on sealing wax and stamps, add drama to snail mail, and grab ornate pens that turn the everyday act of writing into a hallowed ceremony.
Shops exhibiting their products include Arita Bunsho Kiln, which fuses the art of ceramicware with functional stationery, Okinawan brand Kamitopia, which uses scrap paper to create memo pads, and revered stamp-maker Kodomo no Kao.
Schedule 2025
The event will go from 9:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. On the last day, it will end one hour earlier at 4 p.m.
Tickets 2025
No on-the-day tickets will be sold; you must purchase them in advance. Tickets cost ¥950 for June 26 (Thu.) and 27 (Fri.), and ¥1,050 for June 28 (Sat.) and 29 (Sun.). Each ticket allows free entry for up to two children under elementary school age.
There’s also a premium admission ticket distributed via a lottery. This allows exclusive access on June 25 (from 2:30 to 5 p.m. and from 5:45 p.m. to 8:15 p.m.) and June 27 (from 5:30 to 8 p.m.).
This ticket is a bit more expensive at ¥1,650 — possibly worth it if you’re looking to do some serious shopping away from the crowds.
Organizers may cancel events, alter schedules, or change admission requirements without notice. Always check official sites before heading to an event.Add to Calendar
