Inspired by the works of French artist Marcel Duchamp, Terai investigates the idea of authorship, ownership, and art production in the digital age in his new series of paintings. The paintings, purchased over an online marketplace, are encased in unadorned acrylic boxes, which are defiantly signed by Terai. His decontextualized paintings address the ambiguity within artistic production and sheds light on how meaning can vary depending on its given context.
