Think you’ve been to some strange music nights? How about one held in a bath? That’s what you’ll get with Dance Bathouse Asakusa, a festival set in a Japanese sento (public bath).
What to expect
Dance Bathouse Asakusa is back for the first time in five years on its 10th anniversary. DJs will play a mix of tunes in the men’s and women’s sections of the bathhouse, which have been drained for the event. Mingle with the crowd and experience the best of the beats Tokyo has to offer.
The unique twist to the festival is that it’s a silent disco event. Visitors will each have their own headphones and music to dance to.
Tickets
Tickets for Dance Bathouse Asakusa have to be bought in advance on the event website. They’ll set you back ¥3,000, or ¥2,800 if you’re an early bird.
How to get there
The event will be held in Hinode-Yu, a historic bathhouse in the Asakusa area. The easiest way to get there is via the Ginza Line to Inaricho Station. From there, it’s just a 3-minute walk over. You can also take one of many JR and Metro lines to Ueno Station, from where it’s a 14-minute walk.
