One of central Tokyo’s biggest but least-known ‘Bon’ dance festivals. The area around the bus rotary on the west side of JR Ebisu Station is transformed into a giant yukata-clad dance circle around the lantern strewn yagura at the center.
The 2022 festival will be the first to go ahead since 2019. Due to COVID-19 concerns, there will be no food or drink stalls at the event. Additionaly, the will (somehow) reduce the number of dancers by two thirds over the numder in pre-COVID times.
Festivities on both days begin at 5:30pm, when the sun has descended behind the station and the air starts to cool.
Organizers may cancel events, alter schedules, or change admission requirements without notice. Always check official sites before heading to an event.Late
