One of central Tokyo’s biggest but least-known ‘Bon’ dance festivals. The area around the bus rotary on the west side of JR Ebisu Station is transformed into a giant yukata-clad dance circle around the lantern strewn yagura at the center.
The 2022 festival will be the first to go ahead since 2019. Due to COVID-19 concerns, there will be no food or drink stalls at the event. Additionaly, the will (somehow) reduce the number of dancers by two thirds over the numder in pre-COVID times.
Festivities on both days begin at 5:30pm, when the sun has descended behind the station and the air starts to cool.To prevent the spread of COVID-19, many events have been canceled. Always check official sites before heading to an event.
