Officially the “Kappabashi Dōgu Matsuri” (Kappabashi Tool Festival), this festival is a showcase of Tokyo’s premiere neighborhood for both amateur and professional kitchen supplies – from knives, to porcelain to realistic plastic food models.
What happens?
Although the “Kappa ichi” (Kappa Market) part of the festival officially runs for a week, most of the festivities — such as a sweets festival, parades, a stamp rally and more take place on the Monday (which is a public holiday). On this day, the road will be closed to cars and pedestrians can wander freely.
