Kazo Citizens’ Peace Festival

9:00am – 2:30pm
Free

This festival claims to have the biggest koinobori (koi carp streamer) in the world. At 100 meters long, it towers over this humble riverside in Saitama for Children’s Day.

What happens?

A large koinobori will be hoisted twice with stage shows in between and after. The streamer will stay in the sky for 30 minutes each time. There will be drums, music, stage shows, a ceremony, and speeches from the mayor.

Schedule 2023

Drums will begin early in the morning at 8:50 a.m. before the peace ceremony at 10 a.m. The ginormous carp streamer will be hoisted twice: once at 11:30 a.m. and the second time at 1:30 p.m.

How to get there

The streamer will be hoisted in Tonegawa Riverside Green Space Park. There will be a free shuttle bus to the event from Kazo Station (North Exit) from 8:30 a.m. to 3:40 p.m. Shinjuku Station to Kazo Station takes 1 hour and 10 minutes with a change at Kuki Station. It costs ¥1,130.

Organizers may cancel events, alter schedules, or change admission requirements without notice. Always check official sites before heading to an event.
