The 45th edition of Setagaya's biggest fireworks festival is to take place above the Tama River near Futakotamagawa Station on the Tokyu Denentoshi Line and the Tokyu Oimachi Line. What happens? In recent years, the event's date has shifted from mid-August to mid-October (perhaps after the disastrous washout of the 2017 event). As October is usually a big month for typhoons, organizers might be further tempting fate. Tips You should get there early if you want to get a good spot. It gets so crowded that festival guidelines stipulate a 90cm by 90cm allowance on your blue sheet for one person! Also, you're best off visiting the toilets at the height of the fireworks as there are long lines as soon as the Tamagawa Fireworks Festival ends.
