Showa Kinen Park used to be an aerodrome, but you wouldn't be able to tell during the Flower Festival, when the park's grounds are densely colorful with the blooms of cherry trees, rape flowers, poppies, water lilies and tulips. If you're a flower fiend, this one's for you. During the festival's eight-week run, you can feast your eyes on the flowers themselves, or head into a number of flower-themed art and photography exhibitions, lessons and lectures. During the poppy season, a flower-picking course is available, and for the adventurous, there are also Segway tours of the park on offer. When you're tired of flowers, hang out at one of the open-air gigs or drop your kids off at one of the kid-themed activities and just relax.
