Swords, snacks, and songs await at the Sengoku Warlords Expo — formerly known as Samurai Fes — in Ueno.
What happens?
Held to demonstrate the spirit of the warriors in feudal Japan, this is an intriguing event for fans of Japanese history.
There will be several stage events, from musical performances to reenactments of famous moments in history. The performers will be dressed in clothing from the era and will use traditional props and instruments. There are also workshops and live demos, ranging from sword-forging to monochrome ink-painting.
Several food and merch stores will be available to browse in between performances. The food stalls offer Japanese favorites like takoyaki, oysters, and meat, with beers and spirits to wash it down. Meanwhile, you can buy everything from traditional brooches to battle armor at the merch spots.
