The Setagaya Firefly Festival and White Egret Flower Market is a family-friendly summer tradition held on Boroichi Street.
What happens?
The most popular event is the chance to see fireflies while walking through a dark, enclosed dome. Be prepared for long lines, and you’ll be asked to keep moving — but it is free to see. There will also be a flower exhibition featuring white egret flowers (or fringed orchid), a species of orchid that resembles a heron, and the floral emblem of Setagaya.
Schedule 2026
The event takes place on July 4 and 5. You can enter from 4 p.m., but the firefly viewing will take place from 5 p.m. to 9 p.m. on both days at the Setagaya Daikanyashiki’s parking lot. Queueing for firefly viewing will end around 8:45 p.m.
Organizers may cancel events, alter schedules, or change admission requirements without notice. Always check official sites before heading to an event.Add to Calendar
