Shibuya Street Dance Week

This massive street dance festival at Yoyogi Park includes performances, battles, and workshops that anyone can watch or join.

What happens?

Shibuya Street Dance Week has been running since 2015. Despite the name, it’s a one-day event this year.

Expect top dancers across genres, freestyle battles, breaking, and there’s even workshops for those of us who have two left feet.

New for 2026: The Kids Area

This year’s big addition is the Kids Area, where children run the show. In Rep Your Studio, crews from kids’ dance studios battle with routines they choreographed themselves, and the audience picks the winner. There’s also a showcase for teams from elementary to high school age, plus workshops and kid DJs and MCs.

This year’s four ambassadors are young dancers who have been competing since childhood: Maika, Yuta, Kazane, and Shoya Divao. Yuta won the high school world title at the World Dance Colosseum World Final 2024, and Kazane was runner-up at the Juste Debout world final at the age of 12.

Schedule 2026

• Battle Park: freestyle dance battles, 10 a.m.–3:30 p.m., with the finals on the outdoor stage.
• Kids Area: Yoyogi Park Event Square, 11 a.m.–3 p.m.
• SSDW Contest: a high school dance club competition at the Yoyogi Park Outdoor Stage, noon–3 p.m. (planned).
• Rainbow Stage: the main stage, with everyone from world-class dancers to local groups.
• Dance With Music: the ambassadors and performers jam together, backed by a live band.
• Chill Out Space and Breaking Area: drop-in workshops, DJ sets, and breaking cyphers.

Dancers who want to compete in Battle Park or the Kids Area need to apply via the official website by November 16. Entry is free, and spots are first come, first served.

On the same day, Yoyogi Park’s zelkova tree avenue hosts Football Park Shibuya 2026. Shibuya Street Dance Week is also a partner program of Arte Tokyo, the city’s autumn arts and culture festival.
