Traditional Japanese Noh theatre is a uniquely immersive art form that lovers of Japanese culture can’t miss. At Shinjuku Gyoen National Garden, you can enjoy the dramatics surrounded by nature.
What to expect
Noh performances are easily recognizable through the intricate masks and short tales that make up a performance. This Shinjuku evening is no different, with two stories lined up. The shorter, “Snail” begins at 6:45 p.m. and lasts 25 minutes. After a short break, the longer performance “Tamai”, will begin at 7:30 p.m. for an hour and a half.
The performances will be in Japanese, but song and dance is a strong element of the show, so anyone can enjoy them.
