Shiofune Kannon Temple Azalea Festival

8:00am – 5:00pm
¥300 (on the door)

Although a little bit further away from Tokyo than the Nezu Shrine Azalea Festival, this pink celebration includes a large statue of Kannon.

What happens?

Each year, for around a month, the mountain behind Shiofune Temple bursts into color. The garden is kept in exquisite condition with a wide range of azaleas that continue to bloom throughout April. The best time to visit is usually late April (you can keep an eye on the flowering status on the official website).

There will also be several events, including an opening ceremony on April 8, a children’s procession and tea ceremony on April 29, and firewalking on May 3.

Tickets

The temple and gardens are usually free to visit, but during the azalea period, entry costs ¥300 for adults.

How to get there

The closest train station to Shiofune Temple is Kabe Station, which is around 1 hour and 5 minutes on the Chuo Line from Tokyo Station. From there, you can either walk for 35 minutes or get the bus to “Shiofune Kannon Iriguchi” (7 minutes) and walk for 10 minutes.

If you are driving, parking costs ¥700 during the event period.

Organizers may cancel events, alter schedules, or change admission requirements without notice. Always check official sites before heading to an event.
