The Showa era of Japan left behind plenty of unique and beautiful souvenirs. At the Showa Retro Market, you’ll find stalls selling everything from retro music to posters and home appliances. The market works like a regular flea market — vendors will have stalls set up with their goods, just take what you want to the owner and pay.
Bring cash if you’ve got an eye for retro goodies, as none of the stalls will take card. You wouldn’t want to miss a bargain while queuing at the ATM.
How to get there
The Showa Retro Market will be held in the Mensyo Kaikan (Cotton Merchant’s Hall) in Ningyocho. The closest station is Ningyocho on the Asakusa and Hibiya Lines, a 6-minute walk away. Alternatively, you can take the Shinjuku Line to Bakuroyokoyama Station, which is also a 6-minute walk.
