Taking place at Takahatasan Kongō-ji, a Shingon Buddhist temple, this is one of the largest chrysanthemum festivals in the Tama area.
What happens?
Takahatasan Kongō-ji enshrines Fudō Myō-ō, one of the Five Wisdom Kings in esoteric Buddhism. The temple is said to date back to the early Heian period.
The annual chrysanthemum displays feature over 1,500 examples of the flower.
