In late 2020, Web Summit—the world’s largest start-up conference—announced plans for a Tokyo event in September 2022. In December 2021, the cancellation of the event was announced by Japan’s Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry (METI).
With the support of METI, Trade and Industry and the Tokyo Metropolitan Government, the original plan was for Web Summit to organize at least 5 annual summits in Tokyo.
Web Summit is well known for attracting not just some of the top entrepreneurs and innovators as speakers, but also world famous sports people, politicians, and entertainers.
The main Web Summit is held each year in November in Lisbon, Portugal.
Organizers may cancel events, alter schedules, or change admission requirements without notice. Always check official sites before heading to an event.
