Ōtori Jinja (shrine) is a popular shrine located to the north of Asakusa. Praying at the shrine promises to deliver "household peace". The shrine is most known for the Tori no Ichi markets which are held during November each year. At Tori no Ichi, vendors sell lucky decorated rakes called "kumade". Kumade literally means "bear paw". The shrine is also a popular location for hatsumode---the first shrine visit of the year. Possibly due to the aforementioned assurance to bring household peace!
