Meaning “Peace Island”, Heiwajima is a man-made island in Tokyo Bay that was only completed in 1967.
As a relatively new area of Tokyo on reclaimed land, there are lots of facilities geared towards recreation and logistics, with large event halls, warehouses, and wide roads dominating.
The biggest attractions on the island are Boat Race Heiwajima—a facility for watching and betting on speed boat racing, Heiwajima Onsen, the Tokyo Ryutsu Center Exhibition Halls, and Heiwajima Park.
Heiwajima Station, on the Keikyu Line is actually located to the west of the island, which is joined to the mainland by parkland anyway.
