Tucked away in the narrow streets of the Ueno-Hirokoji neighborhood, this temple has a history of over 400 years.
We wouldn’t recommend making a special trip to visit, but the temple is worth a quick look if you are visiting nearby Ameyoko street market.
Most temples in Japan are surrounded with trees and gardens, so this very urban temple is a little unusual.
