Kitaya Park is a compact public space in Shibuya that was redesigned in 2021. The 960-square-meter park includes an open plaza, tiered benches, and a mix of grass and trees.
The park has public WiFi and power outlets, making it usable for short remote work sessions or charging your phone. A semi-covered terrace area hosts occasional events like food trucks, markets, and intimate performances.
One of the main features of the park is a two-story Blue Bottle Coffee. This is the chain’s first Shibuya location, and the building was designed by Keiji Ashizawa, founder of Ishinomaki Lab, a community design initiative that started after the 2011 Tōhoku earthquake. The café interior includes a curved counter made from volcanic ash tiles by designer Dzek.
