Also known as Iwadono Kannon Shōbōji, this Buddhist temple in Higashimatsuyama, Saitama, has stood for 1,300 years as a place for people to pray for peace and tranquility.
The shrine is famous for its enchanting ginkgo tree, which was once worshipped by women during the Edo period, as it was believed to help with safe childbirth and child-rearing. Nowadays, there is an autumn festival in early December each year that celebrates the ginkgo tree, along with a special light-up event.
