One of Tokyo’s most reputable independent matcha cafés, Wasachi hides away on a quiet residential street in Roppongi. The small, intimate, and contemporary tea room welcomes visitors from around the world to experience the best of Japanese green tea.
What is Wasachi?
Founded by Takuma Yamanaka, Wasachi is a true love letter to the art of matcha. While the menu may appear limited, offering just four carefully curated options, this minimalist approach is a testament to his mastery. Drinks range from ¥650 to ¥850.

For those looking to explore even more matcha flavors, pair your drink with a matcha cookie (for ¥250) or indulge in a creamy matcha affogato (for ¥850).
When speaking to Yamanaka about why he chose to open Wasachi, he shared that he “wanted to create a place where people from around the world can enjoy matcha”. He went on to mention: “Many international stars and famous chefs have come by. Asia’s best chef in 2024, Daniel Calvert, even called our matcha the best in Tokyo”.
Just a quick peek at the offical Instagram is enough to see how many people have already stopped by.
