Tokyo events for Monday, June 17 to Sunday, June 23, 2019 This week, celebrate International Yoga Day with a free yoga session, visit the Africa and Taiwan food and culture festivals and bust a move at the Salsa Street festival. Rosenzuiro: Erica Ward Solo Exhibition An exhibition of 14 works of art that uses the colors of the Tokyo's subway line by artist Erica Ward. Hope Quiz Night at Hobgoblin A classic pub trivia night in Roppongi. Proceeds go towards helping the neglected poor become self-reliant. Taiwan Festival Tokyo 2019 A Taiwan food festival in the heart of Ueno Park. Sample an array of tasty treats including Taiwanese favorite: lychee. Africa Hibiya Festival A festival to celebrate and learn about African culture, lifestyles, food, dances, music, fashion and more. Berlin Party with Tokyo Groove Joshi This Shibuya party will feature a slew of DJs and special guests Tokyo Groove Joshi. There will also be free vegan burritos and happy-hour specials. VYS621 Yoga Matsuri Celebrate International Yoga Day with a free outdoor yoga lesson with Indian yoga master Sudhakar. National Museum of Western Art – Free Admission Day Check out the extensive permanent collection at the Museum of Western Art in Ueno Park for free. Works include paintings from the late Medieval period through to the 20th century and modern French sculpture. Salsa Street Festival 2019 Bust a move or two at this popular event in Ueno Park. Latin American food and drinks will be available for when you need to refuel. Code TECHNIQ x Blink Tech Series 2019: WWDC Recap This event brings together folks from all different backgrounds—kids, adults, coding beginners and coding experts, casuals and gamers—for a fun day of technology-focused activities, including workshops, games, networking and more. Mt. Takao Beer Mount If you like your beer gardens with a refreshing view, try the one atop Mt. Takao—the highest beer garden in Tokyo. Make sure you go hungry and thirsty though, it’s an all-you-can-drink deal (don’t worry, there’s more than beer) accompanied by an all-you-can-eat buffet. Sound of Waves Sound of Waves is a group exhibition featuring both Japanese and European photographers, painters, illustrators and animators. The driving force behind this event is to foster connections in a world of social media and technological isolation. Katsushika Iris Festival In northwest Tokyo, see 14,000 iris flowers at Mizumoto Park and 6,000 more at Hirikiri Shobuen Garden. There will be music performances and other entertainment to accompany your floral stroll—the perfect event for a sunny weekend.
