The Heiwajima Antiques Fair is a popular indoor flea market that’s held around five times a year, typically for a period of two or three days each time.
What happens?
Close to 300 vendors from all over Japan come to sell their wares, which comprise a wide range of Japanese antiques. In addition to netsuke, porcelain items, and the other usual suspects, you might find old kimono, statues, sculptures, tools, furniture and art, as well as traditional toys and other awesome stuff.
You’ll find more professional antique dealers than people trying to offload what they found in the attic, so expect higher prices and quality, and also less of a bargaining range as the goods are aimed at real antique lovers.
Schedule
The market ends an hour early, at 4 p.m., on the last day, so you need to be there by 3 p.m. at the latest.
