As with the Shinjuku outdoor cinema, fall weather is perfect for nighttime movie watching under an open sky.
What happens?
The Hibiya Cinema Festival runs for a couple of weeks, offering free viewings of movies to the public in Tokyo Midtown Hibiya Step Square. There will be a plethora of award-winning films and shorts to see.

This year the event goes from October 10 (Friday) to 26 (Sunday).
Day Screen (Oct 11–13 and Oct 18–26) shows popular movies with themes like scream, sing, or dance, plus special interactive weekends. Titles include A Quiet Place and Dream Girls.
Night Screen (Oct 10–13 and Oct 18–25) features award-winning films from the Women Film Journalists Award and Japanese films from the Toronto Japanese Film Festival, shown with English subtitles. Each screening is preceded by a 30-minute director’s talk. Admission is free, but front-row reclining seats require advance reservation.
