One of Japan’s most cherished artists, Koyo Ishizaki is famous for capturing the beauty of nature — finding art in flowers, perching birds, and even rain. See the world through his eyes at the Koyo Ishizaki Exhibition.
What to expect
The art of Koyo Ishizaki shows a unique perspective on nature. Inspired by his travels through India, his paintings have bright reds and oranges flecked through, along with more muted blues and whites. At the Koyo Ishizaki Exhibition, you can explore the scope of his career, from his early days in Kyoto to becoming a master at his craft.
If you’re a real Ishizaki enthusiast, don’t miss out on the gallery talk by the curator of the Fukumitsu Museum of Art. The paintings are on loan from this museum, and the curator is an expert on Ishizaki’s life and art. The talk will be on Apr. 23, at 11 a.m. and 2 p.m. Each talk will last around 30 minutes.

Tickets for the exhibition can be purchased on the day or in advance online. Advance tickets are ¥200 cheaper. So, an on-the-day ticket for adults will set you back ¥1,200, while students pay ¥1,000. If booked in advance, those same tickets are ¥1,000 and ¥800.
