Take a walk and enjoy the changing colors of the autumn leaves even at night. What to expect Tucked away in the Ogikubo neighborhood in Suginami-ku, Õtaguro Park was originally the homestead of music critic Motoo Õtaguro, who donated the park upon his death in 1979. It is now home to 100-year-old ginkgo trees, zelkova, maple, and others, all of which go from green to stunning autumnal hues once the temps drop. Since 2003 the trees have been illuminated for visitors to take in the sights for a few hours at night, and the park now sees around 40,000 visitors during the illuminations. The illumination presentation changes every year, so even if you have been before, you’ll have a whole new experience this time around. One of the biggest draws is the reflection of the trees on the park’s pond. Schedule 2024 The illuminations are for a limited time, running just over a week: Saturday, November 30 to Sunday, December 8, 2024. Entry is Monday to Thursday: 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. (Final entry at 7:45 p.m.) and Friday to Sunday: 5 p.m. to 9 p.m. (Final entry at 8:30 p.m.) If you enter the park prior to 5 p.m., please note that the gates will close at 4:30 p.m. Re-entry is possible after 5 p.m. with a ticket. Tickets and Entry The autumn leaves at Õtaguro Park are free to see during the day, but you'll need to pay to see the illuminations at night. Adults: Elementary and junior high school students:
